Hp stopped releasing new drivers for the 1000 after xp, and they never released 64-bit driver for it. i haven't seen anyone make it work on 64-bit os other than the method i used. the problem is the host-based printer; if it had a processor this issue could be worked around.. Have a newly reformatted pc with windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. all works fine except of course the hp laserjet, which i assumed would be a no-brainer at all. figures hp doesn't have the necessary drivers.. I have an old but brilliantly reliable laserjet 1000. i now have new pc running on win 7 64 bit. does anyone know of a generic driver which will allow me to connect my new pc with the printer?.
From the windows vista/windows 7 machine connect to the share and install the hp 1100 driver provided in the printer list. or install the virtualbox software provided in the links on that forum on your 64-bit box.. It seems that laserjet 1000 is not even vista compatible. furthermore, it has been discontinued. there is a workaround for vista 32-bits that will also work for windows 7, but not for 64-bits.. afaik, your options are as follows:.
