The software that came withe the scanner has no driver for windows 7 but i have the updated software from the epson site for windows 7. i have uninstalled the driver in the device manager and loaded the updated software but epson scan still will not open.. Remove your scanner from the list of installed devices, then reinstall epson scan following the instructions in your start here poster. make sure your computer meets the memory and other system requirements specified for the software you are using.. This is the one time out of many i have had problems with my epson perfection 4490 photo scanner. whenever i use any of the four buttons on the from (scan, print, email, or scan as pdf), the escanassist program opens, then the epson scan program opens.. Solution: open regedit.exe and go to hkey_current_usersoftwareepsonepson scanes00bc select the "environment" key and delete it. this will cause the epson scan screen to open in the upper left corner of the screen the next time the program is launched..
